First Crop night!

Hi Bloggers
Well we now have a definite date for the first information and crop evening for Scrapalatte.  It is next Friday night 9th July, from 6pm till 9pm at the Helensvale JRLFC.  For all the details please email me at keonieburnham@hotmail.com for a copy of the flyer which includes all the information you need.  Once you have seen the information flyer it would also be great if you could email me and let me know if you are coming so we can get a rough idea of numbers for the make and takes etc.   I will keep you updated here and via email of any extra details that you may need to know and if YOU have any questions, please email me anytime.

See ya soon,
Keonie

Keepin you posted!

Hi again,
Has been a little while between posts but have been busy behind the scenes trying to secure a night or afternoon for the first Scrapalatte crop night.  Initially we had it secured for a night in June, however this coincided badly with the fantastic Scrapbook and Papercraft Convention which was held recently in Brisbane over the June long weekend.  Not to mention that my lovely friend and owner of the online store My 2 Angels , who is helping me with Scrapalatte crops/classes had a display at the convention and was understandably focusing on that.   Plus...having been a scrapper for a while now I know that the recent Brisbane convention is pretty cool, not to mention BIG, and I know that many scrappers save and save for months leading up to it.  Therefore we chose to hold off on Scrapalatte till well after the convention and allow you (and your budgets) to recover.

One thing i did neglect to mention in the previous post is that the venue we have for Scrapalatte which is the Helensvale Hornets Junior Rugby League Club is fully equipped with toilets, wheelchair access, and even a play area with TV/DVD for children.  I am currently trying to finalise a date for the first crop night and will post here and on my2angels site exactly what date and time.  We are so excited about this venture and really can't wait to get it started.  Till next time....be scrappy!!

First Ever!

Hi ya,
Welcome to the first ever Scrapalatte blog post.  Can I just say that next to parenting, I have just been on the biggest learning curve creating and developing this blog!  Fun, but involved....new terminology I never even knew existed and cool functions that I previously thought were only in the realm of Graphic Artists!  Phew....having said all that WELCOME, welcome to Scrapalatte.  This is where I intend to show you what I can do and what I can teach you.  A place to display Layouts (LO), projects, techniques and anything else scrap related.  I hope to inspire you to create whatever you heart desires and most importantly, to enjoy the creative process.  I encourage you to speak....leave comments and feedback anytime and that way I will know how to help you in that creative process.

A bit about me....I am 36 and live in Ormeau Hills with my husband Jason and our three gorgeous (yet periodically wicked) children.  I have been on two design teams (one in the ACT and one in SA), and have taught scrapbooking collectively for about 4 years, firstly at a store in Brisbane, and most recently at The Scrapbook Cupboard here in Helensvale.  My ideas for Scrapalatte actually grew out of the unfortunate closing of the Scrapbook Cupboard and the subsequent realisation that there is nowhere on the northern end of the Gold Coast for people to learn Scrapbooking.  And for those of us already scrapobsessed (yes...that is a new word!), nowhere to indulge in our hobby or sit and scrap with friends.  I really hope through Scrapalatte to fill that gap and provide a happy, inspiring and creative atmosphere for scrappers or cardmakers of all levels.

OK so I will leave you now with a recently completed LO which may appear as one of the first Scrapalatte classes.  Really simple to do, and cheap as chips!!  One piece of Kraft cardstock (CS), some paper flowers, one photo, bit of ribbon, stamp and ink, and you are pretty much done.  You will come to realise that I do love black and white photos, bright funky colours and of course....Kraft CS.  I therefore had a ball doing this LO, loved the colours and the contrast as I really wanted it to pop right out at you! And it was done in less than an hour!  Tell me what you think......
